# Connecting channels

A channel is a messenger or a website chat through which the bot talks to people. The same scenario works in all connected channels at once, and the conversations from all of them arrive in one "Messages" section.

> [!NOTE]
> Connecting a channel requires a Pro subscription. When the subscription ends, the bot stops running the scenario and replies to people with a service message until the subscription is renewed. What else depends on the subscription is on the [What is available without Pro](https://support.watbot.org/billing/without-pro) page.

## How to connect a channel

1. Open the bot's scheme and click "Connect messenger" on the top toolbar.
2. Choose a channel in the list.
3. Enter the data the form asks for and click "Save".

What exactly to enter depends on the channel — see its page. Channels missing from your list are not enabled on the platform.

A bot can have one channel of each kind: one Telegram bot, one VK community and so on.

After the first channel is connected, the "Connect messenger" button turns into a link icon with the "Manage messengers" hint — it opens the same list.

## How the channels differ

All channels share one scenario, but the platforms differ in what they can do. If a channel lacks something, the bot makes do with what is available: for example, it asks for the phone number in a message where there is no button to share it.

| Feature | Telegram | VK | MAX | Viber | Web chat |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Keyboard under the input field | yes | yes | no | yes | yes |
| [Mailings](https://support.watbot.org/chatbots/mailings) | yes | yes, with a message type | no | yes | yes |
| Mini app opens inside the channel | yes | no | yes | no | yes |
| AI reply is typed out as it is generated | yes | no | no | no | yes |

## After connecting

The window of a connected messenger shows the general link to the bot and a QR code: both take a person to the conversation with the bot. You can place the link on your website, in social networks or in ads.

The "Link management" button leads to the "Links to chatbot" section. There you create additional links that start a particular scenario — for example, a separate link for each ad campaign.

## Changing or disconnecting a channel

Open the list of channels and choose a connected one:

- "Edit" — replace the token or other connection data;
- "Delete" — disconnect the channel from the bot.

VK and the web chat have nothing to edit: to switch to another community, disconnect the channel and connect it again.
