# Advanced settings

The "Advanced" tab gathers the switches that change the behaviour of the bot as a whole. All of them are off by default, except the messages about new referrals. Changes are applied after the "Save" button.

## Conversation only, without a scenario

The "Turn the bot off and use the service only for messaging with customers" switch.

When it is on, the bot stops running the scenario and replies nothing by itself. People's messages are still saved, and operators reply to them by hand in the ["Messages"](https://support.watbot.org/chatbots/messages) section. The mode suits you if the bot is needed as a shared inbox for messengers and automatic replies are not needed.

What else changes:

- from the project's list of bots, such a bot opens straight in the "Messages" section rather than on the scheme;
- the steps waiting for their time in the ["Delay" and "Timer"](https://support.watbot.org/chatbots/blocks/time) blocks are postponed while the mode is on.

How the mode differs from the "Enable bot" switch on the ["General"](https://support.watbot.org/chatbots/settings/main) tab: for people in the messenger — not at all, the bot is silent in both cases. The difference is in your account: a turned-off bot is marked in the list as "Disabled", while a "conversation only" bot stays active and opens in the conversations.

## Your own request title

The "Use a custom request title in notifications" switch. After it is turned on, the "Title" field appears.

By default the notification of the ["Request"](https://support.watbot.org/chatbots/blocks/notifications/notification) block comes with the title "New request for … bot" in a messenger and with the subject "New request in …" in an email. Your own text replaces both.

You can insert contact variables into the title — in this form: `New request — {{ $name }}`. This way the title shows right away who the request is from. The title is up to 998 characters long.

If the switch is on and the field is empty, the standard title stays. The setting does not apply to payment notifications.

## Emails from another address

The "Receive requests from another email" switch.

Emails with requests and payment messages come from the platform's main address by default, and the subject of a request email contains the platform's name. With the switch on, emails go out from another sender address, and the subject of a request email contains the bot's name instead of the platform's name.

The setting does not affect notifications in a messenger.

## Messages about new referrals

The "Receive notification of new referrals" switch. It is on by default.

When a new person comes to the bot by another contact's referral link, the bot writes to the one who invited them: "You have a new referral …" and the name of the new member. Referrals are covered in the [Contacts](https://support.watbot.org/chatbots/contacts) section.

- **"Depth"** — up to which line to report, from 1 to 10. With a depth of 1, the message goes only to the one who invited the person themselves. With a depth of 2 — also to the one who invited the inviter, and so on up the chain. Members from the second line on get the text "You have a new level … referral: …".
- **"Custom message about a new referral"** — replaces the standard text with your own. After it is turned on, a text field and the "Level" and "Name" buttons appear: they insert the placeholders `{{ level }}` — the line number and `{{ name }}` — the new member's name into the text. The text is up to 4096 characters long. This switch is visible only while the referral messages themselves are on.

The bot sends messages about referrals in Telegram, MAX and the website chat.

If you turn off "Receive notification of new referrals", referrals keep being counted — only the messages disappear.

## Confirmation of deleting a connection

The "Confirm before deleting a connection" switch.

When it is on, the [scenario builder](https://support.watbot.org/chatbots/builder) asks before deleting a connection between blocks: "Are you sure you want to delete the connection?". Turn it on if connections on the scheme get deleted by an accidental click.

## Download bot data

The "Download bot data" button at the bottom of the tab leads to exporting the bot's contacts, conversations and requests to an archive. It is visible to those who have at least one of the download permissions. Exports are covered in the [Managing bots](https://support.watbot.org/chatbots/manage) section.

## Who can change it

The tab is visible to the owner and to a team member with the "Bot settings" permission. Changes can be saved by the owner or a team member whose role has the "Editing scenarios" permission. Permissions are covered on the [Team member access](https://support.watbot.org/chatbots/settings/access) page.
