# Publishing and your own domain

Until the landing page is published, only you see it — in the builder. Publishing puts the pages on the internet. After every edit, publish the landing page again: visitors see the version as of the last publication.

## What you need to publish

- **A Pro subscription.** You can build a landing page without a subscription, but publishing it and connecting your own domain is possible only with Pro. Without a subscription, the "Publish" button opens a window offering to get Pro. The subscription is checked for the landing page's owner: a team member with the mini landing page permission does not need a subscription of their own.
- **An active subscription — the whole time the landing page is live.** If Pro has ended, published landing pages stop opening. The pages and settings are kept, and after payment the landing pages are available again at the same addresses.

What the subscription includes is in the [Plans and billing](https://support.watbot.org/billing) section.

## Publish a landing page

1. Open the "Builder".
2. Click "Publish" — the button in the top right corner; on a phone it is next to the page name.
3. Confirm: answer "Yes" to the question "Publish a new version of the mini landing page?".

The message "Publishing can take up to several minutes" appears. While publishing is in progress, a spinner turns on the button. When it is finished, the message "Mini landing page "…" published successfully" arrives.

One publication releases all pages of the landing page that have changed since the last time, and the icon. A published page gets an arrow icon above the phone frame — it opens the page on the site.

## The landing page address

The landing page opens at the platform's address with the ending from the "URL" field — the one you set when creating it. The full address is shown before the "URL" field in the [settings](https://support.watbot.org/landings/settings) and on the landing page's card in the project's list.

The landing page's pages, except the home page, open at the landing page's address with the page address at the end. For example, the home page is `…/romashka`, the page with the address `price` is `…/romashka/price`.

## Your own domain

You can connect one domain of your own to a landing page — then the page opens at an address like `romashka.example`. The domain must already be bought from a registrar. Your own domain is also needed for the "HTML" block and the code from the "Scripts" tab to work on the landing page.

### Connect a domain

1. Open "Settings" → "Domain".
2. Enter the domain in the "Domain" field — without `https://` and without a path, for example `romashka.example` — and click "Add".

3. The "Verification status" block with a DNS record table appears below:

| Host | Type | Value |
|---|---|---|
| `@` | `A` | The IP address from the table on this tab |

4. Open the domain control panel at your registrar and create an A record with this value.
5. Return to the tab. The check runs by itself — you do not need to click anything.

> [!WARNING]
> If the domain has an AAAA record (an IPv6 address), delete it. Otherwise the SSL certificate won't be issued: the certificate authority also checks the domain over IPv6, and that address doesn't lead to the platform.

What happens next:

1. Every few minutes the platform checks that the domain points to the right address. While the record is not found, a spinner turns in the "Status" column. DNS records do not update instantly — at a registrar it can take from a few minutes to a day.
2. When the record is found, the "Issuing a certificate" label appears: the platform issues an SSL certificate so that the site opens over `https://`.
3. After the certificate is issued, the landing page is published on the domain by itself.

At the top of the tab is the "Link to your mini landing page:" line with the address and the "Delete", "QR code" and "Copy" buttons.

> [!NOTE]
> Once a day the platform re-checks the DNS record of a connected domain. If the record has been removed, the domain is no longer considered connected, and the platform's address becomes the landing page's address in your account again.

### Without a certificate

The "Do not verify" button under the table turns off the domain check. The platform warns: "Without verification, the SSL certificate will not be received. However, you will be able to use the domain via http if you set up a DNS record". The site will open only over `http://` — browsers mark such sites as not secure.

You can turn the check back on with the "Verify domain" button.

### Disconnect a domain

Click "Delete" next to the link and confirm. The landing page stays available at the platform's address. You can disconnect a domain without a subscription too — for example, when Pro has ended.

## The platform label

At the bottom of a published page there is the platform label. The "No platform label" option removes it — see [Plans and billing](https://support.watbot.org/billing).

## Page checks by the platform

A published page opens to visitors right away. After that a moderator reviews it for compliance with the platform rules. Nothing changes for you meanwhile: there is no separate "under review" status in your account.

If a page breaks the rules, there are two possible decisions.

**The page is unpublished.** It no longer opens to visitors and looks unpublished in the builder. You receive a notification: "The page "…" of the mini landing page "…" has been unpublished and no longer opens for visitors" — and the reason, if the moderator gave one. The other pages of the landing page keep working. Fix the page and publish the landing page again — it opens again and goes to review again.

**The landing page is deleted.** A moderator can delete the whole landing page. The notification gives the reason and the period during which you cannot create or edit mini landing pages. During this time, when you try to change something, your account shows: "Creating and editing mini landing pages is restricted for violating the platform rules. The restriction will be lifted …". You can still view and delete your landing pages while the restriction is in place.

Notifications arrive in your account — how to read them is described in the [Account and projects](https://support.watbot.org/account) section.

## If something does not work

- **"Wait for the previous publication of the project to finish."** The previous publication is still in progress — wait for the message that it has finished. If publishing hangs, the block is lifted by itself after an hour.
- **"An error occurred while publishing the mini landing page "…"".** Try publishing again. If the error repeats, contact support.
- **The landing page does not open at the platform's address.** Check that it is published and that the Pro subscription is active.
- **"The domain is already attached."** One domain is connected to a landing page. Delete the previous one first.
- **"Such a domain is already attached to the platform."** The domain is connected to another landing page — yours or someone else's. Disconnect it there or choose another domain.
- **The domain check does not finish.** Make sure the A record is created for the domain itself (host `@`), the value matches the table and the domain has no other A records. Then wait until the record updates at the registrar.
- **The domain is verified, but the certificate isn't issued.** Delete the domain's AAAA record (IPv6): while it exists, the certificate can't be issued. After deleting it, wait until the change reaches the registrar.
- **"Issuing a certificate" hangs for a long time.** If the certificate could not be issued, the platform retries once an hour.
- **Changes are not visible on the site.** Edits in the builder are a draft. Click "Publish".
