# Edit a record

Finds a record and changes its columns: mark an order as canceled, update the delivery address, set a rating.

## Settings

- **"List"**.
- **"Which record"** — "By id" (the "Record id" field, usually `{{ recordId }}`) or "By conditions". With conditions, the first matching record is changed.
- **"What to write"** — columns and new values, up to 50. The other columns of the record do not change.
- **"Behaviour": "Only the current user’s records"** — on by default.

## Exits

- **"Success"** — the record is changed.
- **"Error"** — the record was not found, the list is not selected, or there is not a single condition in the "By conditions" mode.

## Specifics

> [!WARNING]
> Do not clear "Only the current user’s records" without need. Without it, the block takes any record of the list: the id and the condition values come from the person's device, and a savvy person can substitute someone else's record.

Records are a person's "own" if they were created by the ["Add a record"](https://support.watbot.org/mini-apps/blocks/records/record-create) block or a "Record form" attached to the user.
