# Website widgets

A widget is a round button in the bottom right corner of your website. A visitor taps it — and a window opens with a title, a short text and ways to contact you: links to your messengers and social networks.

A chat with the bot can work in the same window: the visitor writes right on the website without going to a messenger.

You build the widget in your account and add it to the website with one line of code. The website can be anything — made with a site builder or hand-coded — as long as you can insert your own code into its pages.

## What the widget shows

- **Title and description** — for example, "Hello!" and "Contact us through any of the following channels:".
- **Banner** — an image above the title, with a link if you like.
- **Links** — Telegram, MAX, VK, Viber or any link of your own. On a phone a link opens right away; on a computer a messenger shows a QR code and a button to go there.
- **Chat with the bot** — a "Start a chat" row in the list or the chat right when the widget opens.

The widget's own labels — "Back", "Close", the hint at the QR code — are shown in the language of the website or of the visitor's browser: Russian, English, German or Ukrainian. For other languages — in English.

## Where the section is

Widgets belong to the project. Open the project and choose "Widgets" in the menu. A click on a widget opens it; an open widget has these sections in the menu on the left:

| Section | What it contains |
|---|---|
| "Builder" | The widget as it looks and the "Widget settings" panel |
| "Add to website" | The code that you insert into the website |
| "AI help" | The AI chat about this widget — see [Building a widget in the AI chat](https://support.watbot.org/widgets/ai-builder) |

Above them is the widget switcher: use it to go to another widget of the project and to change the icon.

## How it works

1. [Create the widget and set it up](https://support.watbot.org/widgets/editor): texts, links, banner, button colour.
2. [Install the widget on your website](https://support.watbot.org/widgets/install): copy the code and paste it into the website's pages.
3. If you like, [turn on the chat with the bot](https://support.watbot.org/widgets/chat).

Changes saved in the builder appear on the website by themselves — you do not need to change the code on the website.

A widget can also be built with words — in the AI chat: see [Building a widget in the AI chat](https://support.watbot.org/widgets/ai-builder).

## What you need

- **No Pro subscription is needed.** A widget with links is created, set up and works on a website without a subscription and with no time limit.
- **The chat with the bot — only with Pro.** The chat works through the bot's "Web chat" channel, and channels are connected with a subscription. If Pro has ended, the widget stays on the website, but it has no chat row.
- **The platform label.** At the bottom of the widget window there is a "Powered by …" label. The "No platform label" option removes it — see [Plans and billing](https://support.watbot.org/billing).
- **Team member permissions.** The project owner can do everything. A team member needs a role with the "Widget administration" permission. Only the owner can move a widget to another project. How roles work is on the [Team member access](https://support.watbot.org/chatbots/settings/access) page.

## Widget checks by the platform

The widget appears on the website right after saving. Then a platform moderator reviews it for compliance with the rules. The texts, banner and links are checked; if you only changed the button colours, no check is started. There is no separate "under review" status in your account.

If the widget breaks the rules, there are two possible decisions.

**The widget is taken down.** It stops showing on websites but stays in your account. You receive a notification: "The widget "…" has been taken down and is no longer shown on websites" — and the reason, if the moderator gave one. Fix the widget and save it: it appears on the website again and goes to review again.

**The widget is deleted.** The notification gives the reason and the period during which you cannot create or edit widgets. During this time your account shows: "Creating and editing widgets is restricted for violating the platform rules. The restriction will be lifted …". You can still view and delete your widgets while the restriction is in place.

A copy of a checked widget counts as checked. A copy of a widget that has not been checked yet or has been taken down also goes to review.

## Limits

- A project can have no more than 100 widgets. When the limit is reached, the "Create" button is disabled.
- You can create no more than 100 widgets per day, including copies.
- A widget has up to 100 links.
- One widget works on one page of a website.
- The widget has no dark theme: the window is always light.
