Building a course in the AI chat
An online course can be built by describing it in words: "make a course 'Watercolor from Scratch' for beginners: two sections, four lessons, a short quiz after the first lesson, packages for $39 and $79". The AI creates a school or picks an existing one, builds the course with a curriculum of sections and lessons, writes the text of every lesson with quizzes and adds access packages. You can fix an existing course the same way: "add a lesson about the palette to the 'Basics' section", "rewrite the second lesson in simpler words".
Everything the AI writes goes into a draft: students see nothing until you publish the course.
You do not need a Pro subscription for this — just as for schools themselves. You pay for the model's tokens — they are charged to "AI Credits". How they work is described on the Prices of additional services page.
How the builder turns on
Open the AI chat — with the "AI chat" button on the top bar of the account — and describe the course. There is nothing to switch on: the AI connects the online school building tools by itself, and a "School builder" chip appears above the message field. If a bot or a mini app is being built in the same chat too, the chip names all of them — for example, "Building: bot and school".
You can also start from the school: the "AI help" item in the school's side menu opens the AI chat about it. Building is on from the first message — no need to name the school in the chat. The school's courses are shown on the right, and a click on a course opens its summary. If you click the item on a course page, that course opens on the right at once.
A new school with a course can also be started from the creation form: above it is the "Build a course with AI" block. Click "Build", describe the task or pick an example and click "Build with AI" — the AI chat opens, and the description is sent to it as the first message.
In the chip's menu you choose the mode — "Ask first" or "Automatic" — and turn the builder off. When there are several builders, they share one mode, but each can be turned off separately. The modes are the same as for building a bot: see the Building a bot in the AI chat page.
Building a new course
- Describe the course: who it is for, which sections and lessons it has, whether quizzes and homework are needed, in what order lessons open, how much access costs.
- The AI looks up the project's schools. If there is no school, it offers to create one — the "Create an online school" card. If there are several schools, the AI picks the one you named or asks which one to add the course to.
- Then it creates the course with its settings, curriculum and packages — the "Create a course" card.
- After that the AI writes the lessons one by one — a "Write the lesson" card for each lesson. A long course takes many steps; that is normal.
- In the "Ask first" mode, click "Apply", "Apply and don’t ask again" or "Reject" — just as when building a bot.
A change is saved as a whole or not at all: if something in it does not fit, nothing changes in the course, and the AI fixes the request and tries again.
After the changes, a course card stays in the conversation: the name and the result — for example, "lessons: 4 · course not published". The "without text: 2" mark means two lessons have no content yet, and "needs work" means the course cannot be published as it is.

The course on the right
While no course is selected — for example, when the chat was opened with "AI help" from the course list — the right panel shows the school's courses: the name, the number of lessons and the "course published" or "course not published" mark. A click on a course opens its summary.
A click on a course card in the conversation opens the course summary on the right:
- the school name, the "course published" or "course not published" mark and the course description;
- the "Not ready to publish" block — what prevents publishing the course: the course has no lessons, lessons have no text, a quiz has no questions or no correct answer;
- the "Good to know" block — what works but is worth knowing: students do not see the latest version of lessons yet, the course is not published, a quiz is not placed in the lesson text, no package is on sale, the school has no plan;
- the "Curriculum" block — sections and lessons in order. Each lesson shows its state: "draft" (students do not see the lesson), "edited" (students see the previous version) or "published". Next to it — "no text", the number of quizzes, the lesson time, "open to all" for a free lesson and "after N days" for a lesson that opens on a schedule;
- a click on a lesson expands its text — as the student will see it after publishing, with videos and quizzes: a quiz is labeled "Graded · questions: N" or "Practice · questions: N";
- the "Access packages" block — the price, the access period, what is included, extra items and the "on sale" or "off sale" mark;
- the "Course curriculum", "Access packages", "Course settings" and "Student portal" links. They open in a new tab.
The button in the panel's header opens the curriculum of this course.

Fixing an existing course
Name the course in the chat — the AI finds it in the school — or open the course and click "AI help" in the school menu. Then describe what to change.
The AI changes only what you asked for. It recognizes sections, lessons and packages by their names, so asking again changes them instead of creating copies.
What the AI can do
- Create schools in the current project and pick existing ones. A new school is created without a plan — see "Pictures and covers" below.
- Create courses and change them: name, description and settings — the lesson order ("every lesson is available right away" or "the next lesson opens after the previous one is completed"), opening a section after the previous one, homework and quizzes in lessons (not needed, optional or required), lesson questions, homework after the quiz. See the settings on the Courses and lessons page.
- Build the curriculum: sections and lessons in the right order, lessons outside sections, renaming. A lesson can have the lesson time, the free lesson mark, the number of days after which it opens, and its own homework and quiz rules. See the curriculum on the Courses and lessons page, and the lesson settings there too.
- Write the whole lesson text: headings, paragraphs, lists, quotes with a caption, dividers, bold, italic, monospaced text, highlighting, links, YouTube videos, pictures by the links you gave, and videos already uploaded to the school's video library. The new text replaces the old one completely. See the lesson blocks on the Courses and lessons page.
- Write quizzes in a lesson: graded or practice, questions with a single answer, multiple answers, "true / false" and a text answer, the passing score, the number of attempts and their restoring, showing the answers. A lesson can have up to 5 quizzes, a quiz up to 100 questions. See the Quizzes page.
- Add and edit access packages: name, description, price, access period, what is included — homework review, questions to the curator, a certificate — and extra items. See the Selling courses page.
- Check the course after every change — what prevents publishing and what is good to know, as in the blocks on the right.
The AI does not make up prices. If you did not name them, it asks — or clearly marks the prices as examples to replace.
Packages are created off sale
The AI creates every new package with "On sale" turned off — only you can turn sales on, in the course's "Access packages" subsection. While no package is on sale, a published course is free for any student: this is how paid and free courses work. That is why, before opening such a course, the AI always asks you whether it should be free.
Pictures and covers
The AI puts pictures in lessons and the course cover only by a link you gave. They are stored in the school, so the school needs a plan or the trial. A school the AI has just created has neither — pictures are not added until you start the trial or a plan in the school's "Plan" section. The AI warns you about this, and if a picture did not get in, it says so in its answer. How to start the trial is on the Creating a school and its plan page.
The AI does not upload videos: upload the video to the school's video library yourself — see the Courses and lessons page — and ask the AI to put it in a lesson.
Publishing
Publishing turns the lesson drafts into what students see and opens the course in the school catalog. You can also publish only the lesson changes of a course that is already open.
The AI can only offer publishing. Every time, a "Publish the course" card appears in the conversation: how many lessons go out to students, whether the course opens in the catalog, whether it will be free, and the note "students will see the changes". The buttons are "Publish" and "Reject". This card appears in the "Automatic" mode too, and it has no "Apply and don’t ask again" button.
The course is not published while the lessons to publish have no text or their quizzes have no correct answer: the AI fixes the lessons first. You can also publish a lesson or the course yourself — see the Courses and lessons page.
Warning
Quizzes have no draft. If the AI changes a quiz in a lesson students already see, the questions change for the students at once, without publishing. The lesson text still waits for publishing, as usual.
What the AI does not do:
- It does not delete schools, courses, sections, lessons, quizzes or packages. Sections and lessons the AI did not name in the curriculum stay in the course and move after the named ones. You can delete them in the "Online schools" section.
- It does not turn package sales on.
- It does not touch students, homework, orders and payments, certificates, domains or the school plan. This is done in the section — see the Students, Homework and questions, Selling courses, Certificates and School settings pages.
- It does not upload videos and does not put pictures from chat files.
What you need
- No Pro subscription — neither for schools nor for the builder. For students to sign up in the student portal, the school needs a plan or the trial. See the Creating a school and its plan page.
- Permissions. The AI changes the school within the same limits as you. A team member needs permissions from the "Online schools" group of their role: to create a school — "Create online school", to create a course — "Create courses", to change the course, lessons, quizzes and packages and to publish — "Edit courses and lessons". See the Team members and content review page.
- A suitable model — the same as for building a bot. If the selected model cannot handle the builder, a "… cannot build courses" card appears in the conversation with a button to switch to a suitable one. See the Building a bot in the AI chat page.
If something does not work
- The AI describes the course in text but creates nothing. The builder did not turn on. Ask directly: "build an online course…". If the conversation shows a "… cannot build courses" card, click the button on it.
- The AI said what it would do, but nothing happens. In the "Ask first" mode the change is waiting for your decision on the card — click "Apply".
- Students do not see the course. The course is still a draft. Ask the AI to publish it and click "Publish" on the card — or publish it yourself. Also check the "Good to know" block on the right: without a school plan the student portal is closed.
- The course opened for free. No package is on sale. Turn on "On sale" for the right packages in the course's "Access packages" subsection.
- A lesson has no picture. The school has no plan or trial, the link did not lead to a picture, or the picture is not available without signing in. The AI says so in its answer — start the trial or give another link.
